SilverSneakers Classic and Circuit Training

Two workshops in one! Instructors attending this training will complete all requirements to teach SilverSneakers Classic and SilverSneakers Circuit. Not a SilverSneakers instructor?  Attend for the knowledge!

SilverSneakers Classic is Healthways core group exercise class for the SilverSneakers Fitness Program. Classic is a total body conditioning class offering exercises for the upper and lower body, designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living (ADLs). Resistance tools and a chair for seated and standing support are used to increase the effectiveness of functional skills and abilities needed for independent living. The workshop includes: class format objectives, seated and standing movement choreography, resistance tool choreography with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball, and exercise recommendations for risk and disease management.

 SilverSneakers Circuit is for participants who have expressed a desire for more cardiovascular and muscular endurance conditioning and have demonstrated above baseline proficiencies in agility, balance and coordination. Circuit offers standing low-impact choreography alternated with standing upper body work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and the SilverSneakers ball. Circuit focuses on the benefits of a circuit format to improve cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength and endurance without increasing risk. The workshop includes: class format objectives, teaching skills to promote safe, continuous low-impact aerobic activity alternated with upper body strength training, safe and effective movement transitions, and exercise recommendations for risk management.

She has more than 15 years of experience as a fitness education provider.  Jenny’s current role with Healthways includes virtual training programs, workshop coordination and fitness instruction for the western United States.
